The Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet is offered at the Island Dance Studio. The Cecchetti method is also taught at the National Ballet School, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Quinte Ballet School and the Alberta Ballet School. Ballet is a combination of physical strength and flexibility with special attention paid to body alignment, coordination, musicality and discipline which make ballet the foundation technique of most professional theatrical dancers.
Enrico Cecchetti was one of the most influential and successful ballet teachers of all time. His system of pedagogy - The Cecchetti method - is still widely used around the world by professional ballet companies and independent dance studios.
Significantly, Enrico made remarkable transitions through dancing - the Italian Ballo, The Russian Imperial Ballet and Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Among his many star pupils were Anna Pavlova, Vera Vaganva, Tamara Karsavina, Mikhail Fokine and Vaslav Nijinsky.
Dancers may be invited to take exams by Miss Richelle Kinley, Associate CSC-CICB. Guest ballet teachers from the National Ballet school and Alberta Ballet School offer workshop classes at the Island Dance Studio yearly!
