Applicants must 'self' choreograph a dance and
present it to the judging panel. Applicants are required to submit an
essay. The essay must be a minimum of half a page and maximum 2 pages
in length, stating why they feel the desire to be a dancer.
Dancers will be marked on their written essay,
organization, technique, choreography, personal presentation and
grooming, artistry, performance quality and musicality. Dancers will be
marked as individuals and not against each other and according to their
age.
The recipient of a scholarship will be notified by
the end of November and will have their name and picture displayed in
the studio and photograph will be used on recital poster 2010. Upon
accepting the scholarship, the student is expected to uphold the
qualities portrayed in the audition, with respect and self motivation.
The candidates must also show excellent attendance as they help to set
a great example as a role model to other students.
This year's Joan Kinley Memorial Scholarship
auditions will be announced at a later time. Auditions will be
announced on the studio's bulletin board and the calendar. You
will be given an audition dance time. Your essay may be submitted at
your audition. Audition date will be in January or February of 2011.
Thank you,
Miss Richelle.
