Welcome
to Island Dance Studio
Welcome everyone to a brand new year at Island Dance Studio.
I wish to start by saying that I feel very passionate about
the World of dance and what it offers our children and young
adults. I am proud to offer you and your families very educated
and caring dance teachers who are certified in their dance
field.
The early years are so important and ground breaking for
specifically our little ones therefore we hope that you will
read the following studio expectations and help in assisting
your child to make good habits that they will carry with them
in their future years.
A happy environment is achieved through a consistent, familiar
and structured one. As parents we love the dedication, discipline
and etiquette that dance teaches our children. Here is what
we ask of you:
- Dancers arrive 10-15 minutes before class, in uniform
with required shoes and hair up (no bangs and no buns that
fall out)
Students who arrive late or not in their proper uniform
will be asked to watch class.
- All dancers must use the washroom before class has started,
not during class.
- Dancers should line up quietly to the right side of the
hallway and wait to be asked to enter the room by their
teacher. This relates directly to exams. Whether students
take exams or not, it is a good practice and sets a sense
of importance once students enter into their dance room.

- Parents of small children - we must insist that you do
not open the studio doors to enter in and play, as this
makes the room less artistic and more like a playroom or
gymnasium. We have created a special environment which needs
to be enjoyed by all who enter for Dancing.
Our dance studio should feel precious to each dancer who
enters, a place where the World disappears and the artistry
begins. All ages can experience this, obviously to different
degrees.
- Each teacher must also prepare prior to class so please
leave them a note in their mailbox (located in the reception
office) if a discussion needs to take place or questions
need to be answered.
- Company A,B and C dancers who compete may be asked to
remove themselves from competing (not from class) if their
attendance is poor. Concerning attendance would be more
than 3 absences in the dance season from September to June.
This is important to stay consistent and fair to other company
dancers and their families who show a strong commitment.
Your co-operation is appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this important information
and thank you for discussing it with your talented dancer.
*Classes begin on September 14th, 2009.
Your class time will vary depending on which program you enroll
in.
** All classes are subject to a minimum enrollment of 4 and
a maximum of 16, these numbers do not apply to competition
dances.
Sincerely,
Miss Richelle
